    The Castledermot Round Tower is set in a leafy churchyard and graveyard just off the main street of the town. The round tower is one of the finest in Ireland and the monastic complex dates from the 9th century. It eas obce the monastery's bell tower and it's unusual in that its 4/5(13).     Some, such as the Book of Kells, have survived the centuries but others have been lost. One such lost book is the Book of Kildare. How do we know there was such a book? Well, it was seen and marveled at by the Norman scribe, Giraldus Cambrensis, when he came to Ireland and Kildare in , a few years after the coming of the Normans.
